Tennessee River Gorge Annual Event

Event Date:
May 12, 2012 - 6:00pm - 10:00pm

Chattanooga, TN (February 28, 2012) – Special guest, Senator Lamar Alexander, and a spectacular sunset on the banks of the Tennessee River will showcase ‘Another Gorgeous Evening’ on Saturday, May 12. A fabulous catered dinner on the lawn with music by the Ben Friberg Trio and some unusual auction items will complete the evening’s allure at the Tennessee River Place.

The Tennessee River Gorge Trust’s annual sell-out event will be a celebration of over three decades of conservation of ‘Tennessee’s Grand Canyon’ through land protection, education and the promotion of good land stewardship. More than three thousand people have supported the vision to preserve the Gorge…Forever!

“Someone once said that Italy has its art, Egypt has its pyramids, England has its history, and America has the Great American Outdoors. Well, Chattanooga has the Tennessee River Gorge, which helps attract eight million visitors to the Scenic City each year, and I am pleased to celebrate the Tennessee River Gorge and help preserve it for generations to come,” shares Senator Alexander.

The event venue is located at the entrance to the awe-inspiring Tennessee River Gorge, across from Williams Island just west of downtown Chattanooga. The Gorge displays its pristine beauty for 27 miles along the Tennessee River into Marion County.

“People who visit Chattanooga are not prepared for the majesty of the Gorge, whether they view it from the river, the road, or the air,” says executive director, Jim Brown. “So many are not aware of the significance of protecting this special place or the fact that people have been working for decades to do so. Our organization wants to change that. We want people to come out to the Gorge, explore it and learn to love it, and a good place to start is with this event.”

All of the money raised during ‘Another Gorgeous Evening’ will help the Trust continue its efforts of land protection, education and stewardship. Come join us for this lasting legacy! For more information or to purchase tickets, visit TRGT at www.trgt.org or call 423.266.0314.
