19th Annual Sgt. York Memorial Powder Shoot

The public is invited to attend (no charge) the 19th Annual Sgt. York Memorial Powder Shoot on Saturday, March 26, 2011, in the Valley of the Three Forks of the Wolf River at Pall Mall, beginning at 8 a.m.
 Competition events include X-center, over-the-log, 60 paces and traditional muzzleloading rifles.

Only traditional rifles, flint or percussion, either traditional hunting or “old style” traditional target type are allowed. There are prizes for overall top score, best “X” of the day and best-costumed man and woman. Call 317-422-9750 for Black Power Shoot participant registration information.

 The women’s costume contest encourages old dresses, hose with back seams, bonnets, etc. The men’s competition often includes bibbed overalls, wide ties, old suit jackets with wide lapels, fedora hats and more.
  York General Store and Visitor Center is the first stop for visitors to Pall Mall and features a free orientation film, tourist information, deli, snacks, Sgt. York gifts, books, T-shirts, collectibles and more. All proceeds benefit the Sgt. York Patriot Foundation’s York General Store and Visitor Center at Sgt. York State Historic Park.
