Waterfall Week: waterfall hikes

Join us for Waterfall Week! Visit one of our many waterfalls or take a guided hike with the park naturalist. Views of waterfalls can be easily seen from the Mill parking lot and Twin Falls parking lot. Visitors are welcome to hike along trails into the Gorge with precaution and should check the Great Falls release schedule before hiking below the Dam and Powerhouse. A few smaller falls you can hike to: Baby Falls along the Eagle Trail, Little Falls off the Downstream Trail and Waterfall seeps along the Blue Hole Trail. Below are a few guided hikes we will offer March 19th and 20th. Registration not required. Trail maps and more information may be accessed at the park's visitor center, website and facebook page. 

10:00 am Waterfalls and History Talk : Meet at the Old Mill Parking lot. Learn about the park's long history and the important key role water, and it's falls, has played in it. All ages  (views of Great Falls & Twin Falls can be seen from Parking lot w/out walking) Ranger will caravan to Twin Falls overlook for those who would like a closer look.

11:00 am Rock Hop from Twin Falls to Great Falls. Meet at the Twin Falls Parking Lot off Powerhouse Road. This is a moderate ~1 mile hike into the Caney Fork Gorge that includes walking on & around boulders and small streams. Bring a sack lunch and we will rest and eat at the top of the falls. All ages welcome. Please be prepared w/ sturdy shoes and clothes you don't mind getting wet. In case of rain or unscheduled Dam release we will hike the Downstream trail from the Twin Falls overlook, a moderate 1.5 hike that starts at Twin Falls and overlooks the Blue Hole.
